I've been reading and hearing from folks about "buying a $500 gas card".
They tell me it'll save money as gas prices keep going up. But when I ask if they're buying gas, or just getting a $500 credit at the station, their expression turns blank. Then they manage a feeble smile and say they thought it would save money, but maybe just make 'em feel better.
Is there such an animal as a gas card - where you buy *gallons* and not just dollars worth? Anybody doing this? Here in the northeast we do that with heating oil, but never heard of it for gasoline.
