Re: following up on recent talk about the TR3 gas cap. What are your solutions for the circled yellow spot
in the photo:

Checked the TRF site, didn't see anything apparent.
Anyone have a recommendation for an O ring?
Or another idea? This might lead to less gas escaping from the cap while stored.
 
I dug our what was left in that groove and used a snug fitting square profile o-ring. I just used one I had on hand - it was of a larger circumference so I cut it to fit & jammed it in the groove. You can super-glue the cut ends if you like but really once it is packed in there it will do its job and isn't going anywhere.

BTW - not that it matters much -- but generally I think the 'ear' was meant to point to the driver's side of the car. You may have to add a gasket(s) under the escutcheon to make it tighten just right.

I made mine from old rubber inner tubing. Works for me.

I had filled mine w oil resistant RTV and it seals nicely. Was easier than finding a large o-ring to fit.
