Fuel Pump & Gas Line fittings

Hi all,

I have a problem. The inlet and outlet fittings on the fuel pump on my TR4A are leaking. I presume this is something I can get locally, or will I have to order from Moss? Can someone post a picture? Would like to drive my car over the nice weekend...but not with fuel leaking out, even just slightly!

Thank You!

Last I checked, you couldn't even get the right fittings from any of the Big 3, let alone your FLAPS. The original compression sleeves were a different shape than modern sleeves, and typically the fitting nuts won't go in far enough to compress them properly.

Here is one solution:

I now understand. I will use that solution. Seems logical and reasonable. Do you by chance know what size Ferrule? I think it's 1/4. thank you for your help!

On a TR3, the inlet is 5/16" and the outlet is 1/4". I assume the 4A would be the same?

Great! Thank you sir.

All fixed. The trick is to do exactly what that article said. I picked up some ferrules and a new brass fitting for the input line. Took the fuel pump off the car. Spilled a [censored] ton of gas (DOH!). Cleaned the fuel pump thoroughly and made it look nicely.

I first installed the inlet line, it tightened up nicely. Then, I installed the outlet line *loosely* and gently put everything back on the car. Tightened up the fuel pump w/ a new gasket, to the engine block, and tightened the connector between the line and carbs. Tightened up the outlet line, and everything is now fresh!

No more leaks. Squeaky clean, and super dry!

Thank you!
