If still available, I wonder what Amoco 260 would cost! I used to burn that in my Harley. :unsure:
 
I will buy a couple of gallons of high octane high lead racing fuel to run in my Cadillac when I fill up, it helps with things like early detonation that sometimes happen on lower octane fuels. Anymore, there is only one semi local gas station that sells racing fuel at the pump.

In the late 90's there was a C-store in Virginia that had Cam2 fuel on a side pump. I was driving a 1970 MGB at the time and even though it cost 4x what normal gas at the time was selling for, I wanted to give it a try since the manual for the "B" specified 98 or higher octane fuel (which I had to show the manager of the store before they would even turn on the pump). It did make a difference, but not enough to justify 4x cost.

I belive it said "for best performance, use 98 or higher octane leaded fuel" or something very similar to that. It would run on 93 but you had to adjust the timing a bit to compensate. The distributor also had a thumbwheel adjuster on it so you could tweak the timing a couple degrees while running with no tools required.

Same thing happened in the US... but they started selling 1/2 gallons which apparently the pumps could be set for. When the price of gas went from 0.99 to $1.00 - and that stupid 9/10th of a cent which is always there for some reason.
 
I found that the 9/10s was the profit for station. One big tri corner station in St. Louis makes $1,000,000 a month by the 9/10.
