frying pan to fire...

I agree - I think blaming Lucas for everything
that goes wrong (although humorous) is wrong.I think
that a lot of the problems are owner-induced.

I have collected a bunch of horns up, and when I have a slow moment, I will restore a pair to either sell on Ebay, or use on a customers car.(Hey, everybody has to have a hobby right??)

Is this a job I could do? I just swapped my Lucas ones out because I didn't like the sound, but, am not crazy about the cheap replacements either.

Sure, I guess. I usually work on "wind tones" the big bulbous horns from old Jags, TR3s MGAs etc. I have done a few sets of the 9H horns, but they have their own issues. They are riveted together, and so far I drill out the rivets, and thread the horn bodies and use filister head srews to hold them together. It almost looks right, but not quite. If you look on Algores amazing internet, you can find reprints of the horn servicing "manuals" from Lucas. They are not a lot of help, but better than nothing.
