I am installing a Pacesetter header on my 74 Midget. I was able to remove the carbs, cables, intake and exhaust manifold without a hitch. I am thinking, Man this is too easy. I bolt the header on using the two outside studs. I begin installing the intake after I cleaned and glass beaded and it won't go on! The header flange does not provide enough clearance! I start to machine intake and finally got it to fit. I install the washers that clamp the intake and the header and realize that the intake is substantially thinner than the header. I am using bad words now. I take the pictures of my kids out of my wallet and while continuing to curse proceed to make shims out of old washers and start to clamp the intake in place. I cannot see the studs on the inside and move the coolant hose out of the way and then I hear water dripping! The pump to tube hose with the TEE starts to leak at the TEE. I am totally [censored] now. I fixed a cocktail, ordered the hose from MOSS and am typing this novel. I should have the hose Wednesday. I will fit the bottom pipe tomorrow for the header and maybe clean up the carbs. I am feeling much better now. I think I will have another cocktail.
