Frustrated!!!

I am installing a Pacesetter header on my 74 Midget. I was able to remove the carbs, cables, intake and exhaust manifold without a hitch. I am thinking, Man this is too easy. I bolt the header on using the two outside studs. I begin installing the intake after I cleaned and glass beaded and it won't go on! The header flange does not provide enough clearance! I start to machine intake and finally got it to fit. I install the washers that clamp the intake and the header and realize that the intake is substantially thinner than the header. I am using bad words now. I take the pictures of my kids out of my wallet and while continuing to curse proceed to make shims out of old washers and start to clamp the intake in place. I cannot see the studs on the inside and move the coolant hose out of the way and then I hear water dripping! The pump to tube hose with the TEE starts to leak at the TEE. I am totally [censored] now. I fixed a cocktail, ordered the hose from MOSS and am typing this novel. I should have the hose Wednesday. I will fit the bottom pipe tomorrow for the header and maybe clean up the carbs. I am feeling much better now. I think I will have another cocktail.

My 1500 race car has a Pacesetter header.

It was so badly constructed that I had to cut sections of it apart and reweld them. It took a long time with a file and grinder to get the porting to come even close to matching.

I would have sent it back, but I only had a few days before I was leaving for a race.

In my opinion, a very poorly made product.

since a header is on my "to do one day list" is there an alternative?

Mine cost $136 and it is made here at home in Phoenix. I did see them in MOSS and VB. Remember MONZA is the same company as Pacesetter.

There is so much nice stuff you can buy for the 1275. I too had trouble with the header fitment. After reading so much about it here I kinda expected it. I understand the frustration. I ran everyone out of my garage with colorful language the other day when my ignition switch broke in the middle of trying to start the car after a week of tweeking on the carb.
Hang in there, this is all supposed to be in fun. That is as much for me as it is you. Today I'm installing a key in the dash up where the manual choke used to be.

Okay rub it in...
Really they are nice units with the Peirce manifold it is a little diferent in thickness at the flange but nothing serious.
It is a little more money but you get what you pay for. The pacesetters never fit its as if they go thru the trouble of cutting the pieces correct but then just burn down the welds with a there its done ship it thinking.
Had the same issue with severial of there units not just the spridget.

I have a maniflow and it fits great, just had to take the heater box out to install, or rather put it in place before swinging in little greenie.
