Front Wheel Camber Setting

Hi Guys, I am probably asking about a topic that has been discussed a whole bunch of times ... here’s my story and question. I have been using an old set of wheels (48-spoke) and oversized tires ( 205 70 R15). When I setup my suspension I used the Moss bushings and set the camber to +1 degree. With the oversized tires I have gotten a lot of wear on the outer edge of tires.

Fast forward, I recently bought new MSWs (15 x 5), and 185 70 R15 tires all set to mount with a new set of hubs.

I wanted to ask for a recommendation on what the camber should be. Didn’t want to burn up the new tires.

Any suggested thoughts on things that worked for others would be really appreciated.

Thank you!

Bill

You’ve pushed the top of your tires out to one full degree and installed wider tires; it’s no wonder you're wearing the outside edges.

As BoyRacer said, set your camber to zero and reset your toe-in.

Keoke, I think that’s a very technical question. I think it is relative to his intended use. How often will he be at ‘full load’? I definitely don’t think he needs 1 degree of positive.

Well Vette yeah but:

I simply meant do it simulating a driver only or that with a passenger which ever is his predominate use.

1 degree of positive is a bit much i would say too.

Hi Guys, I basically drive the car very conservatively. Car shows, club meetings, and local weekend cruises. A passenger sometimes. I did all the restoration work myself (except for the paint), so I almost never drive the car hard.

My plan is to bring the camber closer to 0, and I am going to check the camber as suggested above. I also bought new hubs from Moss.

I really appreciate everyone’s suggestions. The BCF forum has been really helpful!!

Thank you

Bill
