front hub removal

I am trying to remove the front hub, Bentley book does not show this setup. The metal stub in the hub feels threaded, and the access hole in the hub is situated above solid metal, no pin or screw to loosen/remove. I knbow there's a hub removal tool 18G 363, but I can't make sense of what appears to be a grease retainer from a standard bolt on wheel. This is wire wheel hub. Help!
 
Okay, you've got a wire wheel car...the tool is already provided by MG & its on your car...the last head stud on the passenger rear side of the engine has a long nut on it...one end of the nut holds a bracket...remove that nut & the small end that was holding the bracket will screw right onto the dust cover inside the hub....then, screw a long bolt onto the end that goes onto the head stud & pull....POP! dust cover off
 
HUH!! Yours doesn't have it...must be a real early car....so, you're left with going down to the hardware stre & buyng a long nut....unfortunately, I don't have the thread size

Yup, I'll just put it back together and wait, please send one. Let me know the cost. I plan to replace my rotors while I've got it apart, any special "on board" tools I need for that?

In a pinch you can thread a 5/16-24 nut on it and wiggle it out with a pair of "needle-nose" vice grips.
 
Ron - I took a long head stud & screwed the nut onto it then welded a flat piece of metal on the other end as a handle.

May be time to start producing them for resale.....

Well went to two different hdwe stores, depot and a real one. Can't get my hands on a nut that fits, the 5/16 X 24 won't catch. Thought the retainer screw might be stripped or compromised, tried the front left with ame result. I built one of the same design tools as Ron showed, but not able to set the nut on the screw. I'll try one of the AUTOIST specials, send one up my way Tony. If that doesn't work, the front end shop gets it. Thanks to all as usual.

Alternate location. The rear most themo stud has a tall nut. Onto the top of the nut is bolted a a clip which secures the airpump plumbing. It's brass as I recall, I've got a couple laying around.
 
My original tool I made using the nut and stud from a late model B'. I have had it since about 87 or so. I have tried to explain using the nut and stud, but I seem to have better luck showing the picture. I guess I should take a picture of the tool so people can see what I am talking about.
