What amazed me was how heavily their cars were built and nevertheless how fast they were--very well prepped as much for rallye on rough roads as for race on a track and aggressively driven in any case.
 
:iagree: Unless your only going to drive on a track leave the bumpers and lights on. Add as many stop lights as you can. I know it looks really great to not have bumpers, I remember seeing one car at a show that didn't have any bumpers, minimum lights in back only and with no WS wipers even. All the holes were filled in. The car looked kind of strange actually, but the body was nice and rounded, more of a styling exercise than anything else.

Those darned Canadians...and they're slowly taking jobs away from American entertainers as well.

Seriously, I would opt for bumpers as even something as simple as parking (at least my parking) could result in some paint damage.

There's a BIG difference between what's considered vintage racing in Australia and here in the states.
 
Haven't even given it a thought until now, but after seeing the picture of Peter Jacksons car, I believe I will go bumperless. I am in the the final stages of finishing up a 67 BJ8 that was wreaked, it was a white car originally and PO spent a fortune on the engine, has headers with side exhaust,fender vents, monster sway bars and Koni shocks all around. Doesn't even sound like a six banger when running. Was going to tone it down but may go with it.

I was looking thru the latest printed catalogue 2008, its under the miscellaneous section page 61, along with items such as front towing eyes and spot light brackets which may interest you also. (trying not to get distracted by the pit girls on page 60! :blush:

Bumper iron blanking plugs, part CBMP116 at ÂŁ1.95 each

Doesnt appear to be on their web site, good catalogue shame if you have to pay for it :wink:

April 2009 Austin Healey club calender shows Bill Story's 100S with neat tow holes where the bumpers were. Cannot see the back of course but maybe he can post a picture if anyone knows him.
