Well its finally time to unveil the car. I am just about finished with everything and drove the car on the road for the first time last Thursday. Only minor things to address. Car runs great and rides like new. Have yet to finish the top (I'll do it after the show) and I will try and document it here for others if anybody is interested. I need to update the longbridge thread with my seat upholstery, have been busy wrapping the car up. We set the car up today at out local convention center (the Cajun Dome) for the World of Wheels show. So far we are the only import car there. They are mostly hot rods and muscle cars, but our little British car gets just as much attention. Well wish us luck for the awards on Sunday. Last year we entered with the Porsche speedster and were pleasantly surprised with 3 awards and some money.
Jim

+1 gorgeous.

Hey Jim,
It looks fantastic - post some more pics ! And it is always great when you get the attention or better recognition for all your hard work in bringing her back ! Know what you mean about being the only "import" as many of the local/regional shows I go to put on by the local clubs are usually dominated by muscle cars, vettes, hot rods, etc and I end up being the only "import" !
Good luck,
Mike

Thanks guys for all the well wishes. It is fun being the only sports car there (I don't consider the older corvettes sports cars). Many people there have only heard of Austin Healey and never seen one in person, so this gives us a chance to give a physical exposure of the brand. I will take some better pics with a real camera not my phone and post them later. Jim

Looking good! Took Agatha to a Super Nationals and she did have competition (Alpha(s) and a Citroin), she got 2 prizes and total $100.00. Only time she ever gave me back money, lol. I know you will do well. Your Healey is a beauty.

Great-
also my AH is on the road again, here the first refueling few days agoIMGP2055.jpgIMGP2056.jpgNo, concours here but run great,
only steering is very hard
Cheers
Andrea

Looks great Andrea. I too find the steering on the heavy side. I always thought it was the heavy engine on the front axle making it hard because in the air on jack stands it steers effortlessly. At least you have your top done, I will be doing that after it is back in the shop from the show.

The 100-6 steering is a bit faster than the later 3000s. Trying to park with a 15" steering wheel is great exercise for the arms.

Congrats Jim and also to Andrea.

I'm also on the road enjoying the sun. Steering is 'stodgy' but not heavy.

Andy.

Compliments Andy
Two AH finish the restoration at the same time at the antipodes !!
Jim are a phenomenon that confirm the rule
Cheers
Andrea

Well the results are in. We got first in our class (not sure what class that was due to the hot rod oriented show) and best restored engine. I am afraid I have to share credit for best restored engine with Randy Forbes because he sent it back all ready to install. Now its time to finish the top and get it ready for conclave in June. We will put some miles around here getting to know the car a little better before in goes all the way to Canada.

WOW! (astonishment wow, not World of Wheels wow!)

I am honored to have played a relatively small part in what you guys have done with that Longbridge 100/6 Austin-Healey.

Thank you Jim, and thanks to Leonard too, for having faith to send me the engine in the first place.

Just a little bit further down Johnston St was the first place I lived when I moved to Lafayette; it was on the right side of town to make those pre-dawn trips to the PHI base @ ICY__sure am glad I don't have to do that anymore!

That sure is pretty engine though, glad I wasn't the only person that thought so!

JIm, what's the latest prognosis on the overdrive's actuation?

Randy, Yes we are pleased with the results. Lots of good quality cars there at the show some restored and some custom. As for the O.D. I will try and get a little more adjustment out of the solenoid pull. It seems to be going all the way but I will try a little adjustment to be sure. I can reach everything from underneath, a little cramped but it beats pulling the trans cover if I won't have to. If that does not yield any results, then I guess it will be time to pull the cover and get access to the plunger.
