Many of you may have already read Hap's post but I wanted to make my own. I trailered the car to the show about 30 miles from my house. I had to stop several times to check the car covers because I was worried about something damaging the paint.

There were about 25 Sprites all in the AH4 class. 13 of them were Bugeyes. There were lots of very fine cars at the shows which I was very surprised to win the class. I enjoyed talking to all of the people at the show. It's nice to have people admire the work that you been doing for the past two years.

Thanks again to everyone here who has helped me get the car done. I couldn't have done it without you.

Way to go Ben. A just reward for all your hard work. Your car looks great. You have one super nice BE. I'm sure this is only the beginning of the awards. It was a pleasure to meet you. Keep up the good work!

Nice - congrats! (little concerned about the t-shirt though /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif )

Congrats Ben

I would not trailer my car with a cover on it. No matter how snug you get them the material rubs on the paint. I have a nice Bass boat with a custom cover with lots of padding in the cover even that puts small marks in the gel coat that I have to buff out.

Cheers
Mark

Way to go Ben. Super stuff, puff your chest out a bit.

Ben's Bugeye was clearly the finest Sprite at the show. The competition was for second place not first as Ben had that wrapped up. The paint job is incredible. I stood in front of the car with the bonnet tilted forward. My reflection off the paint was so good that I could have shaved at ten feet away. His attention to detail is amazing.

The show was a real treat and a great road trip from Knoxville for me and my son. He is a TR7 and TVR guy. His only disappointment was that there were neither at the show.

I've posted a few photos at the link below.

More BEs there than I've ever seen in my life, and Ben takes the trophy!
Excellent stuff Ben, hearty congrats to you!

I don't see how Miss Agatha even comes close.

Must be nice to have young eyes and such.

I am so very pleased that a forum member and someone I consider a friend has done so well.

WAY TO GO BEN.

Congrats Ben, I saw that car and you but I didn't know it was you. That car was really nice. I looked it over real good. If I am not mistaken it was yours that didn't have all the motor mount bolts in on the passenger side. On was in and the other was not in all the way. I was thinking there were supposed to be 3 on each mount to the frame, but I am not tht familiar with bugeyes as much. You wouldn't want to spin that motor over inside that engine bay on a takeoff or something. Question??? If your a Clemson fan, then why paint your spridget Carolina Blue?? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Hoho, good call. Now check every bolt and nut on the car Ben.

Yep I found a few loose ones as well after I thought all was well.

Kim,

In my haste to get things together for the show I missed those few bolts! I'm not to worried about the motor spinning over but I do plan to add the missing bolts to the chassis this week.

I'm making plans now to travel to Charleston, SC for their annual British car show next Sat. I'm looking for a covered trailer to rent or borrow.

On that note does anyone know the smallest enclosed trailer that will hold the Bugeye?

Well, Ben, it's less than 6 feet wide and 12 feet long, so a 6x12 should do it, if there is sufficient room between the wheel arches in the trailer.
Why don't you just drive it down?
Jeff

4 Hours away from me. I also need to take my wife and two children so hauling it is the only way to make this happen. My wife is from there and has family to visit. Works out well other than the transport issues.

I sure wish I could just rent an enclosed trailer....

WOOHOO!!!

Nice work, Ben. You've much to be proud of with that little car.
