Re: main bearing clip

With a set of duckbill expanders... don't ask me what they are actually called. I'm not a real mechanic... I just play pretend on the weekends.

Re: main bearing clip

The clip can't be removed with the bearing installed. Pull the bearing forward towards the bellhousing to remove, then you should be able to use a screw driver to walk the snap ring off. Sometimes a pair of external snap ring pliers can be used, but it a pain since there are no ears.

Re: main bearing clip

All right...I've built at least a hundred waffle boxes over the years . How did you get the FMS out and leave the bearing in place?

Re: main bearing clip

hhaha! beginners luck Alan!
i hope u guys are right...ill try to tap it out from the other side.....
it stayed there so i assumed the clip was holding it in!
my snap ring pliers are worthless as it sits....
wish me luck, eh ; ) .........zimmmmmy
ps...is it safe to reuse a "slighty" imperfect snap ring
or should i order new ones and wait it out?

Re: main bearing clip

Unless you break it or strech it too much is should be OK to reuse. As long as it is tight to the new bearing you are fine.

Re: main bearing clip

tapped it right out! good work boys ; )
the clip came off without incident, but
another clip ive removed is a little bent...
dont remember exactly where it came from
right now tho.....
