TR5/TR250 First drive!

Country flag
Offline
Finally! I got the take the 250 out for a drive today. I had a set back with the overdrive that held me back for a couple of weeks. Overdrive is working fine, some trash in one of the valves. I wanted to make sure its mechanically good before I start on the interior. Will start on that tomorrow. Have to refurb the conv. frame as well. It drove well and seemed to have plenty of power.

Wow! Pretty car!

I love it Marvin, nice color. Which SU's did you use?

Nasty weather in your area, stay safe.

Wayne,
those are HS6s from a Volvo. Had to swap carbs front to back because of fuel bowls, then used the origiinal 250 pedal linkage, wasn't hard to do. I like the look. Weather was below me last night, just some rain. Now to cut grass!

Hey Marv

How is performance of the dual SUs as compared to the stock Strombergs? Is there something different about Volvo SU's as compared to the SUs we have on our TR3s and 4s?

Marvin, Volvo's work great, did a couple of TR6's over the years. The air filter was a little different with the three bolts. I have a couple left somewhere and a set of early "Z" car ones on a TR6 manifold. Think I might put one or the other on mine, the triple Weber set up will be for a performance engine that may go in the 6 at a later date. You have inspired me to get to work on my projects. The GT6/Spit will be the last for someone else until I get a few of mine out of the way.

Be assured we all think you are doing great jobs on your stuff and are keeping many of these cars on the road, Thanks Marvin.

Dan,
that is valencia, car was originally the color was well. Wanted to do one with that color for years. Interior will be camel/tan.

Pat, can't say yet if there is more or less power with the SU's. Pretty sure they are same as the TR4a carbs.

I'll double check that tomorrow. I have another 250 that is all original. Thought they were the same. Hope its right, thats a nice bumper thats on it.

Marv,

Looks beautiful! The overrider should be on the outside bumper bracket mount. You just need to swap the location.
