Finish the Interior - Need Hoodstick covers

I'm asking if anyone with a TR4 (Not 4A) can photograph and make a pattern of the rear hoodstick covers. I bought a kit from Moss a year ago, had it put on and then realized they were not included. I was then told that they don't actually include the hoodstick covers, but supply extra material to have them made :censored: .

I have an upholstery guy who can make them, but since there were not any when I got the car, I don't have anything for him to work from.

If someone could trace them and show some dimensions, I'm sure he could make them.

If anybody has an old set they can part with, that would be even better and he said he would then provide them, once he has made a set. I'm willing to pay for an old set, just let me know.

According to the person I talked to at Victoria British, they don't sell the hood covers separately, just an entire rear bulkhead set.

I'm not clear on what the difference is. IOW, I am not sure what you are missing.

On the TR4 the sticks are covered by the upholstery that forms the entire seat back (or what would be the seat back if there was, in fact, a seat. The whole thing remains attached to the body and lifts up and back over the boot when the stick need to be put away. There are also two small panels (also permanently attached) covering the sticks that lift off to the sides.

Here's a photo of those pieces in place (along with the wheel arch covers, the dog-legs and the carpet).

Looking at the Vicky Brit catalog I see those three pieces (page 47, heading 'SEATS') shown in a box labeled 'TR4 Non-Hardtop' and offered for 199.95 (vinyl) or 449.95 (leather). I believe vinyl was original even on cars with leather interior. Those three pieces illustrated are what covers the sticks. It is a complex set of upholstery, piping, snaps, foam padding and cloth backing that I would not expect a custom shop to be able to duplicate for under $200.

What I need are the two small panels on the sides. On several I have seen at other club gatherings, these panels are not permanent, but attached with snaps. My upholstery guy is very reasonable, and owes me a favor:friendly_wink: .

The rest of the interior is new (well a year or so old), so spending a couple hundred dollars for the two small pieces doesn't seem logical ( as if owning an LBC is logical). Besides, there are so many other projects I can spend this on.

Thanks for your pictures, by the way. You solved my question a bit back with how the back panel was attached to the floor.

However, your picture does raise another question - how did you get the seats out without unbolting the entire frame? Do they slide all the way forward or back to do this or did you modify the frame in some manner.

They are a pair of flaps that are permanently attached under the capping. They lift away to tuck in the sticks, then snap down to cover the sticks but leave the knee-joint exposed. They are a fairly complex shape to do all this and still present a neat look when in place.

Mine is a late TR4 - the seats are hinged at the front and both can be lifted forward for access to the back. The hinges are just two bolts per seat and are easily removed, then the whole seat comes out. Since you have to ask I assume yours is an early TR4 which essentially had TR3 seats (fully nutted to the tracks).

The seats aren't the only thing fully nutted in this car!
 
Here is a picture out of my interior, right after I had installed these pieces. Maybe a slightly clearer view than Geo's. The drivers side is reverse.

Just a quick update on this issue:
One of the member's of this site sent me an old pair to make a pattern - alfa33047. However - I called Moss to ask about purchasing them separately and explained that I did not get them in the interior kit I ordered from them.

The salesperson - Michael and D.J. - who is one of their Triumph Specialists - understood the issue and, even though I had ordered the kit 2 years ago, sent me the hood covers at NO CHARGE !!!!! What a GREAT company to deal with. There are certainly enough reasons to recommend Moss Motors, but to me this is customer service above and beyond!!!!!

Often times, in life, we complain about customer service from companies, I wanted to give a shout out to a company and people who, to me, epitomize what customer service should be and hope that somehow they get recognized. I will do my part!
