I'm sure most of you are heartily tired of this car, but I washed it for the first time and drove it up to a local ski area to shoot some pics of it.

Much as I love the original MGA shape, this one is certainly growing on me too!

You know what? All those years of building race cars must have paid off - nothing falls off and everything except the speedo works.

It should have close on 200 BHP and 200 ft-lbs, and although I haven't weighed it yet, I can't see it being far from a stock MGA.

I am taking ut easy on break in, but I did give it a bit of stick (up to about 4000) on the weekend and it is very ......gratifyingly quick.

Hard to tell size from the picture. Here is a comparison:

GT6 47" high 57" wide 143" long

Jamaican 44" high 63.5" wide 163.5" long

stock MGA 50" high 58" wide 156" long

PS - Tony, you do not need another car! They built a few hundred of these and you see them from time to time on Ebay. I prefer the MGA base but you can find them on TR and AH as well.

Bah, Tony has too many projects as it is. Not only that but his garage is full. Haha, join the club with full garages Tony.

Patrick - no SUs - we located the engine by jacking it up until we had no bonnet clearance and dropping it back 1/4".

The car has 3.5" ground clearance. Put a conventional manifold and SUs on it and something would have to give!

Besides, I like fuel injection. I think a real neat way to go would be to use TWM throttle bodies they use to replace the triple barrel Webers on Porsches and have them housed under a little plexi greenhouse/scoop on the bonnet. I'll leave that for someone more extroverted than I am.

Just got back from getting it weighed and aligned. With a full tank of everything it is 2149 lbs., but the amazing thing is that it is 50/50 distribution front/rear AND side to side - a 'square' car.

Hmm, 10.7 lbs per HP.

A Bugeye for compairson is 34 lbs per HP.

Oh my goodness gracious, might just as well keep spare rear tires on hand.

Matt - more pictures are up at https://www.rhodo.citymax.com/Jamaican.html

Jack, the thing that will keep me from wearing out the tires is the original banjo style diff in there. They are pretty strong, but I have no desire to have to get under there and swap in a later MGB unit. I intend to avoid (and am too old to indulge in) tire burning contests and keep the hard acceleration for the higher gears - no drag racing for this car!

And I don't think they'll let me vintage race it, even in fun, without a roll bar, so.....Sure would be fun on the track, mind you. Think I could sneak the engine in as a special tuning MG 6 cylinder?

Why shucks it's a Factory Sponcered Seabring Jamaican MGA. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

ABSOLUTLY BEAUTIFUL!

Thank you!

Although I saw something in this shape or I wouldn't have embarked on a project with it, the end result has exceeded my expectations in terms of final product - the choices I made for colour, to keep the wire wheels and what size, and just about all of the other choices have worked out even better than I'd hoped!

It's been fun.

I can remember when the first versions of kit cars came out in the mid-60s. The Valkrie comes to mind. And the Avenger. Thought they were fine back then but the interiors sucked bigtime. Yours really has it all together, interior and exterior. The car just cries for a dark color. The gold just did not do it justice. You made an excellent choice of colors and excellent work as well! Congrats on a job well done. Now it's off to ebay to dream;o)
