Here are the photos of the custom fiberglass MGC hood I'm having made to fit over my V8 car....difference is when it goes on my car, the back will be open with a mesh grille so air can sneak out...whadda you guys think?

Actually I do think it looks great, I was kidding about the purple with flames. I am not really that much of a purist. I have been watching the progress on this "project" for quite a while.

I guess if you want to build a machine to give those guys in the rice rockets a shock, its got to have a little flare.

So if you don't paint it purple with flames, how about teal blue...

Believe he's identified the pressure point that's why it ends where it does....
...yes, I'm putting the port holes in the fenders themselves (flared fenders) to pull air from the sides of the engine...
...remember, there's nothing stock about my V8 project - &, I'm gonna blow Vette doors off in addition to the little Jap buzz bombs!

chuck...can't go down this weekend - the red hood is the prototype...he's gotta pull a mold now...oh, I was right...it stops where it does because of pressure points...he's cutting it for little grilles so air will be pulled out it & he'll provide info on type cover to go over the holes so bugs, etc don't get in....

Tony, is he charging the same as the regular hood? If not how much more?

and is it a bolt on?

chuck...bolt on...interior supports like original...about $100 more than stock MGC fiberglass hood....did you notice we took the original little MGC carb buble off? &, the hood will have holes in rear raised portion so air can be pulled out

Thats going to really be bad. It looks so sweet, how much is there standard MGC hood? Whats the quality like?

Thanks

Robert

quality is excellent...he's just slow...figure around $400 for this hood, maybe a bit less...think the stock hood is $275 but I've gotta check...I'm using a Sebring front valance & the fender flares with a custom Sebring rear valance he made for me...its the white one w/recessed license plate

&, wait'll you see the custom trunk lid with 3rd brake light aka BMW Z4

we're still looking at it - Z4 or Miata as model...we'll make molds & graft em together!

Ed...could you tell us exactly how you feel about it?

The chrome just isn't on the mockup yet...

Looks nice & sleek.
Are you shaving your side marker lights also?
Where did he get that wire mesh grill?
How far forward does the pressure zone in front of the windshield extend? Will it interfere with the exit of the air from the engine bay?
Does this mean you aren't going to put in those Buick ventiports?

Tony,

That is really nice! Now we know why you really put off your retirement an extra year...to pay for this project!

Totally cool and worth the cost

Bruce....the way that V8 project is going & the costs incurred, my daughter will have to pick up paying for it!

are you using his graft on fender flares or is he building you custom front fenders?
