But when I *crave* one, it's either boloney on really fresh white bread, regular ol' mustard, smashed up potato chips. Or cream cheese on wheat with alfalfa sprouts, tomatos, black olives, cucumbers and avocado.

Still highly partial to a 'proper' bacon sandwich with brown sauce, if I can get it.

How could I forget the fried egg?Steve said:My ultimate has to be sausage, egg and brown sauce. Proper British Bangers, of course!

I like chips on a sandwich too (crunchy American chips, aka "crisps"). I always thought that was called "Philadelphia Style". Left to my own devices I like a very simple turkey with swiss, on toasted bread, with spicy mustard or occasionally chipotle mayonnaise if I have any.
I just got back from L.A. and had several good sandwiches there. At Doughboy's I had a great one-roasted chicken on a sourdough roll, with sun dried tomatoes, goat cheese, and tomato pesto. We also went to a restaurant called Home, where I had a great curried chicken salad sandwich. Proper yellow curry, with onions and celery in the chicken salad, with lettuce and tomato, on sourdough. Mmmm-mmmm good!
Back in the day-around '92 or '93-when I was a freshman at NIU in DeKalb, there was a shop that had neat sandwiches. I forget what they called it (probably a number), but my favorite was turkey, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onion, and garlic mayonnaise on a roll. But they steamed them, which made them taste just fantastic. I think the place closed down (and I flunked out anyway) but they were fantastic while they lasted!
