I've never been a tidy dresser
And the fold in my trousers it ain't straight.
Still I know a good cloth when I see one.
That's why I'm clad in this gray flannel suit.
Sometimes I wonder if I should visit a tailor
And get myself a smooth outfit.
Then I remember what my father said to me.

Judow> "I'd be curious to know if any of you recall this ditty?"

Of course. I think I still have the record. Do you remember:

'I kissed her on the lips and left her behind for you'

<span style="font-style: italic">I don't wanna have to shout it out
I don't want my hair to fall out

That ditty is an original almost country song By Tom Scott and is similar to another: "She has freckles on her.But she is pretty"

How about " I get tears in my ears from laying on my back and crying over you"?
(I don't remember who sang it though...heard on WEEP, Wheeling W. Va)

When I was a young boy,
my momma told me "Son.
Always be a good boy and don't ever play with guns."
But I shot a man in Reno,
just to watch him die. (Folsum Prison Blues)

Granpa was a carpenter, he built houses stores and banks
Chain-smoked camel cigarettes, hammered nails in planks
He was a-level on the level, shaved even every door

"Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who bidd'st the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea! "

This one always moved me, expecially when I heard it sung during Sunday services by around 1,000 Navy recruits in a drill hall at the Great Lakes Training Center in 1966.
