We have a '68 F250 that isn't driven most
of the time.I started it up two days ago,as I
was taking it to a Blacksmith's shop to have a
receiver welded to the Barden bumper, that's weld-
ed to the frame.
Anyway,I started it up,& heard a gurgling
noise (I thought it was the heater),so I shut off
the engine.
There was motor oil everywhere.I looked down
& noticed that the filter was loose.I retightened
it,added oil,& restarted it.Still leaking.
Then I remember that I'd bought a spare filter,
so I swapped them out,added oil,& ...no leaks!I look-
ed at the filter & noticed that the o ring was par-
tialy loose.
I told the partsman at the parts store about it,
& he said to bring the old one in,& he'd replace it.
Has anyone ever had this happen to them?

I had that happen on the Spitfire about three years ago. I took off the "new" filter I had just put on that was leaking and looked at the gasket. It was a full 1/8 inch thinner than the old filter's gasket. I swopped them...

I think the pressure relief valve on the oil pump's
not working. You can't drop the pan without pulling the
engine.And now there's a fuel problem......

Get's to or past a point that you don't know if it's worth the repair, based on the rest of the problems remaining.

Not bragging, but this is probably the nicest original
non-restored "Bumpside ('67-'72) in the area.I talked to
a local repair shop,& was told that they could raise the
engine up,drop the oil pan, pull the oil pump,& that would
probably take care of it.
If I do it- 2-6 months,if they do it 2-6 days!I work
cheap,but don't know what I'm doing.
