Now that we have no more F1 in North America, when is Bernie going to put the sport ahead of the almighty profit? I'm going to miss those pretty little 700hp british cars. (McLaren ... that is.)

Here's my issue with the 2009 season....
They'll nix a North American GP(s) (Canada or USA) but they'll travel to Brazil????
From China, to Brazil, to Abu Dhabi?

It's inconceivable that the FIA or teams will save any money by cutting out North America. Indy was one of the largest venues that F1 had. 125,000+ spectators. Just not enough money from Tony George. Now Montreal is gone too ...

Oh and let's not forget Australia. Not an inexpensive haul from central Europe.

Although I don't agree with them nixing the North American race, Filipe Massa is from Brazil, and Bruno Senna might be driving next year. The Brazilian crowds will turn out in droves. A U.S. event might not even fill the stands.

Bring it to Sebring and see. :smirk:

I would be the first to buy tickets and book a room. I just think that there are other countries spending a lot more cash to get the races to come to them. It's rather sickening...

Speaking of Sebring. Bro in laws little bro lives right next door and walks over during all the testing and races.

I could do Sebring or maybe Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI. Needs a little work for F1 but it's a beautiful track.

Hey, whadda we need wif them spidery lookin' thangs for?!?! They race even if it RAINS!!!

WE GOT us 'em NASCAR boyz!!!

:puke:

My real problem is: How do we NOT pay attention to F-1 until/unless there's another N.A. venue??

...after all, World Cup ~football~ is all but a footnote here.

ManUnited... Say it.

How about Road Atlanta? They spent millions upgrading the track (especially the gravity cavity), only to have the race sent to Indy because Tony George promised a bigger return than what Danny Panoz could.

Watching a NASCAR race is about as fun as watching a carousel. You wait for your kid to go by on his horse, raise your beer and scream, give the one finger salute to the other horses until your kid comes back around...

Its racing reduced to it's simplest form...go fast and turn left. Maybe that's why there are so many American fans. They can't figure out why leaving dog food out is attracting roaches, but they sure can explain drafting with a couple of sugar packets.

BTW, Doc...Chelsea rules!

Singapore ... oh yes. All the excitement and drama of NASCAR at the price of the crown jewels. The track lighting was a masterpiece ... the race, the crash not withstanding, was a snoozefest.

On another note, Ferrari is trying to duplicate NASCAR though by running over their own mechanics. What can be next; fist fights maybe?

I attended a couple of Indy car and Can-Am races at Mosport in my youth. It's a lot like Elkhart Lake or Watkins Glen. Picturesque, elevation changes but would need some work to support the circus. As with most other tracks Mosport is outside the GTA in farm country. Could it support Bernie's revenue habit is the question.

probably not, although who owns mosport anyway?

Ah found it, it is Panoz Motor Sports Group who are the owners

Bernie needs to bring the F-1 circus to Laguna Seca. Make fortune as the hills would be completely packed with people! Then we watch em' dive into the corkscrew and see if they come out, love it!
Roy
