What is the best way to remove the engine number plate(29D-BT7)? Just drill out the rivets seems the obvious answer, but I thought I would check with the authorities. Thanks

I'm glad you asked that question.
I removed mine, prior to the engine rebuild, by carefully grinding the rivet heads off with a dremel. Now I've got to figure out how to get it back on. I thought I would move it over enough to clear the old rivets and drill in new ones (if I can find similar rivets).

Hi! I used a Dremel tool also, but used it to grind a small slot across the rivet head & then used a screwdriver to screw it out. New rivets are available (ex: Moss).

Lin,

The best way is to take a thin blade, like an artists putty knife with thin gage metal and pry the rivet out. It shouldn't take much to pry it out unless it's rusted in (mine pryed out easily). You can even reuse the rivet this way and you know it will fit! If you do need new rivets they are avail. through www.britishcarspecialists.com

Cheers,
John

Thanks to all. I cut a slot with my dremel tool and then turned them out with screwdriver. Put a little liquid wrench on the night before.
