Hello all,
Please help identifying the engine of the attached pictures. I was told it is a Morris engine 1958, but I can't confirm it.

See if the engine plate is still there. Usually under the exhaust manifold at the front of the engine?

Hello all,

From the colour and rocker cover design it looks like a 1970's Datsun. These were based on BMC engines. If it was Austin Morris etc there would be something cast on the side. The B series had 1622 or 1500 and Austin or MOWOG. Can you get any photos of the side of the block?

Definitely not an A or B series BMC engine, which all had manifolds on the left side. It looks suspiciously like a Morris MPJM 1.5 litre, which was used in Morris commercial vehicles up to the mid 50s, and even showed up in the MG VA in 1936 as the MPJG. It's still a bit hard to tell for certain, but I think it's good guess.

What's it in ?
I agree with the others, doesn't look "BMC" to me, possibly earlier "Morris motors", or it seems to be saying "Standard" to me, I think it's "Triumph" or maybe earlier "Standard" as in "Vanguard" !

Not a Datsun A series engine as the manifolds are on the wrong side…
