Eight sexiest cars.....on MSN.com this morning

[ QUOTE ]
While I do love the suicide-door '64 (especially in black) Lincoln Continental -- it's not sexy. Elegant, cool, bad...but the only sexy Continental is the MKII of 1956-1957...it was $10,000 (the most expensive American car of the day.) When luxury sedans were big, tall and bubbly, it was low and long and sleek.

Sammy, you nailed just what I was thinking about the Lincoln. Sleek, cool, very stylish, but not sexy. A guy at the Friday night cruise in a few weeks back was selling a '65, hardtop not a convertible. My wife loved the car, made me write down the guys phone number. It would make a cool ride, I have to admit, and I could haul the kids around in it to. Was the MKII considered a Continental? I thought the Continental name was for the sedan only and all Lincoln coupes were just Lincoln Mark (whatever). I'd agree though that the Mark II was a sexy car, probably the coolest looking thing I think Lincoln ever built. +1 on the Auburn boatail also, one of my all time favorite car designs. I also love the Blue Train Bentley, or Gurney Knutering coupe as I believe it is correctly called. Again, don't know if I'd say it's sexy but it was certainly sleek and fast looking for it's day, especially for a Bentley.

Any top list without Jaguar E-Type or an Alfa Romeo is lacking IMO.

Scott,

The MkI and MkIIs were both coupes. I don't think there was a continental sedan untill the late fifties with the ugly continentals.

Steve, thanks for the compliment.

As for the Duesenberg, what do you mean 'surfiet of chrome and stylized bits?' The LeGrandes, made for Clark Gable and Gary Cooper were beautiful and elegant cars. I don't think anyone would say they have an excess of chrome on them, or too many stylized bits.

[/ QUOTE ]That is one fabulous breathtaking picture & I never met an ugly car!!(until some of the STYLIZED ones hit EBAY)Randi /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

I guess one has to try to define "sexy".

Scott,
The MKI was considered a Lincoln Continental (1940-1948) and was offered in a Coupe and "Cabriolet Convertible" (department of redundancy department.) The MKII was not a Lincoln, but offered as a stand-alone marque called "Continental" and was only available in a coupe in 1956 and 1957, although two prototype convertibles were made.

The MKIII came out in 1958, also as a Continental, and was the longest production two-door convertible available in the American market ever. It was HUGE, and was also available as a coupe with a drop-down rear window and a sedan. MKIV and MKV Lincoln Continentals were in 1959 and 1960 and were pretty much the same as the previous MKIII Continental. The 1961 suicide-door convertible was only offered as a four-door.

Dino 246 GT , now that's what I'd expect in a top ten sexy car list.
As Bruce said,"I guess one has to try to define "sexy"."
It's all in the head, isn't it?
And since we've all got a different one...well, enough said.

See that, I learned something new today. And my wife says I waste all my time on the internet goofing off. Thanks for the info Sam.

I agree - the Dino 246GT from Ferrari DEFINES sexy!!! (Plus it has that banshee wail at full throttle!)

Yep, one of the few cars I've seen that has NO bad angles.
Perfection from wherever you look.
I want one! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Gorgeous Pantera (with GTS kit.) I love 'em (although I'm partial to the pre-L models...my friend has owned a couple.

The Pantera tends to be a guy's car -- most women don't like them -- in fact, I've found that most don't like any Tjaarda creations. Panteras are more muscular than sexy, and become less sexy with the L. I throw them into the same class as Lancia Stratos and Lambo Countachs -- tough as a glass-eyed, gold-toothed bar-room bully, but not sexy.

I guess it's hard to call a car notorious for killing its occupants in fiery tail-first crashes "sexy" !!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Are you kidding? Girls love that car. Even old ladys stop for that car. My wife thinks it's funny. Of course it's not as bad as when she drives it. I followed her down a busy stretch of road a while back and she made 3 boyfriends on a 2 mile stretch! One guy next to me in my truck hollered at me "hey did you see that chick in that car!" That car is best on a deserted old country windy road!

It can spin out bad but it is a mid engine car not a rear engine car. It has a very mean balance and drives very well to say the least. The body is due for paint but the body flairs are all steel. The front valance is fiberglass but the body is all steel. I cannot find evidence of where it was welded on. It was a fine job. I dynoed the chasis at 300hp with a bad cylinder. I have a stroked 400 (434)with Kaase heads and a few other things on order. Were looking at 500+hp/tq. 800 hp would have been easy with a cam change but it would have taken the rpm way up the power band. With the cam we chose it starts 500ftlbs+ at 2000rpm and stays there long after the rev limiter kicks in. Very flat tq curve. Fun car! Here is both of them:

A guys car? Just means we can work on them and we can buy parts for them at Autozone! It's the best part. When you need a part for the Cleveland you just tell them to look on the computer under 71 Mustang!

I think if I were forced to pick a big American luxury car for "sexy" I'd have to opt for the late '60s Buick Riviera over virtually anything else, though the Studebaker Avanti might edge its way in. Or the early '50's Loey designed Studebaker Starlight Coupe.

The trouble with such lists is that they're always too short, and opinions differ....

Resleeved Master Cylinder

I am going to have to do something with my MGA master cylinder. Either buy new or resleeve it. I would rather resleeve it. I heard that DOT 5 brake fluid is not compatible with brass sleeve plus may have a tendency to buckle and be irregular thus causing brake fluid leaks. The other option is stainless steel sleeves but what downsides are there to this? Has anyone out there have experience with resleeving a master cylinder and have an opinion?
Steve

Personally I like a most of vehicles on the list but mine would be a little different.

While I might want one I have to agree that the 67 Mustang isn’t sexy. It’s a brute but certainly not sexy. Never been a huge fan of minis either, but can understand why some like them so much. And my list would have to be extremely long to include an Alfa Spider or any Lincoln on it.

I am a huge fan of C2 (63 to 67) Corvettes. While many folks would prefer the rag tops I actually like the coupes more, with the 63 split window taking top honors.

But I do think the Aston Martins are some of the Sexiest cars on the planet. Especially the DB4s & DB5s years. But the one I rate above all others is the fabled Zagato DB4 GT.

My $0.02.

Bret I have to agree with you on the 63 split glass coupe, I personally think its the most beautiful Corvette ever made. James you are a Rivy guy too huh? I've wanted a 65 Rivera GS, ever since I saw one the first time, when I was 8 or so. I think the Pantera is a pretty muscular cool car, myself though, I do prefer the beat up on is Garys picture simply because it has cleaner sleeker lines, without that body kit on it.

all good examples, but I have to say WTF about the 05 mini convertible. not that I don't like the look of the car, but it doesn't belong in the same league as the rest of the cars on the list. those are some nice panteras gow, I had a friend had one of those a long time ago, thing was a hoot to drive. it blew the pants of an old tuned porsche I had. and that car could move. but I have to say a car that drives me absolutely wild is the Jaguar XJ220. the lines of that car are just pure beauty.my #1 goal in life is to eventualy aquire one. I don't know how, but I will have one some day.
