Is it easier to reassemble the whole unit with the pedals attached?
With the M/C's attached?

That's how I did it.
 
When you reassemble the unit be sure that the pivot bolt goes in the right way!
If you put it in backwards it won't go back in.

You might consider this small mod to make it much easier to lube.
I have done this to both my Midget and TR6. I have also done it to the door hinges on my TR6 and plan on doing the hinges on my Midget too.
I used a 1/8" center drill to make the tapered hole that fits the grease gun adapter.
