T-Series Dynamator Alternator conversion.

Well, it still doesn't work! They are refunding my money as they say they're out of stock, so the replacement is done. Found out that many of these units don't work right out of the box and have been told they have a funky Chinese wiring setup and no one knows how to install them the way they should be. The instructions are very basic and more than likely there lies the problem. Probably out of stock because of replacing all the ones that don't work! Dynamator, they're a waste of money and time. :flush:

I set up a Lucas alternator on our '65 B here, did get one of the "fake" regulator boxes though. It came with a blank cover so I swapped that for the one on the old box. I'd wired the car for negative ground back when it got the rebuild, so the conversion was relatively painless. Also went to a high torque starter a few months back. Getting that old lump of a starter out was the biggest challenge, starting the upper bolt on the new one was the second biggest. 1/8 of a turn at a time due to the limited access.

My tach drive is in excellent condition, it's this junk Dynamator that's the problem! Watford classics gave me my money back as they didn't want to pay to send this piece of crap back. I rebuilt my generator and put everything back to factory. Tried playing with this it on the bench by putting a new internal regulator from a BMW, which looks identical, but still no output. I'll take it to a fellow who has test equipment for alternators, see what he thinks.
