Don't try this in your Spridget!!

My speedometer doesn't work, so I'm in the clear, right?

No danger of me getting caught doing 140 mph in the bugEye. I'm a conservative driver.

Sixty or so gets my attention when I stop to think of all the stuff I bolted in going round and round.

My Midget seldom, if ever, sees more than the posted speed limit. Like Jack says, she's got too many moving parts installed by yours truly, an admittedly highly amateur mechanic.

My GT6s were a different story, they seemed to like to go fast and were set up for it. Not the Midget. She's all stock, for a nice, smooth ride. :yesnod:

Pretty sure I'm never going to get caught doing 140 in Ms Triss unless there is a cliff involved. Have had her to 80, once, leaves terrible puckers in the driver's seat.

With the 5 speed in I've found myself cruising at 4000 rpm a couple times now in 5th gear.
4K is 70 MPH in 4th gear.

I know that 4K in 5th is way too fast, I think I've grown used to the sound the engine makes at 4k - I'm going to have to retrain myself before the Troopers notice.

Don't have the speedo hooked up yet, I think that's going to help a lot.

BillM says my car has a space under there where it's not as bad to get to as with the earlier cars. Your's being a 1500 shell also should have this access space.

Mine is connected to the transmission but without the 90 degree adapter.
The one I ordered had a square pin and the trans needs a keyed pin, Bill has a box of converter pins that slide on the square part so it become the pin or keyed adapter.
Also the bit that screws onto the back of the speedo is wrong and needs to be changed. Once we get a little decent weather I'll roll over to Bill's and we will get it all hooked up.

If you have a GPS you could use it to get a speed reading at various tach readings.

I have an app on my Android phone called "SpeedView" and it's very helpful in that way.

Not if it has a place to fit some batteries.

So - trouble with the purple wire?
I ask because I have the same.
No lighter and no courtesy light.
It seems when I get it working my circuit for brake lights, wipers and turn signals gets flaky.
I suppose it's just a coincidence but it really seems like that's the way it works in my car.

I need to sort out my wiring mess, I need a couple good rain free days for that.
