Don't try this at home!

Hurray you can do some real heavy lifting now! :wall: aww, never mind. seriously, wonderful new but please be careful.

I hear ya fellas! NO heavy strain for a while.
I'm still a little gun shy myself. I certainly
don't want to return to the man in a Borg suit
ever again!
Slow and steady is my game plan. And I'm trying
to accept that I'm not 17 years old any more.
Think before I act now a days.

Good to hear, now get ready for the FBCC driving tour this Saturday.

We plan on attending. We'll take the wife's MGB.
I hope to be the driver.

I'm thinking about doing a pre-run in the Honda (the replacment Honda  ), I'll start from the store on 178, I gotta be at the winery before the first finishers get there to tally the results, if you don't want to fool with the rally aspect of it, you can prerun with MJ and me, and not go to the start in Easley. Call me.

The "official" tour starts in Easley at the Lowes parking lot at 9:00 a.m.
Staggered starts.
Up 133 to 107 to Cashiers. 64 to Rosman and down 178 to 11 and
the Winery. :thirsty:
Everybody should be at the Winery (near Aunt Sue's) around 12
to 1.
Great drive.
Winery is about 10 minutes from my place.

Oh gosh, I am lost already LOL. I don't know the area. I do know how to get to the racetrack (greenville/picken) and I know its not far from easly because when I was a kid and we went to the races, they had a big fire after a wreck there and the fire trucks came from easly off 123. I can turn at walmart there on 25 (white horse road) and find the race track. Sounds like a fun ride. I took 28 from wahalla up to highlands on the bike a while back, but I was just cruising around down there and found wahalla and 28.

OK, it looks like if I get to 123 the way I know to the race track and then turn right I will go down 123 in the direction of lowes. Can lowes be seen from 123? I'm figuring its on that road and even I can't miss it.

Go to Google Earth and you can find the route and have a view of the landmarks and building locations.

Lowes is indeed on 123. On your right. Good guess.
The Greenville Pickens Speedway is also on 123. From
the Speedway head toward Clemson. Ya can't miss it.
Check your PM. I'm sending a message.

Kim, the rally part of this will be fun for the ladies, so you can bring momma on this one if you like. It's one of those deals where you'll be ask to look for landmarks along the way, and asnwer questions about them, so if you want to do the rally, you will need a navigator, if you just want to do the route, then you can just tear off, and hit the curveys. We going to end up at Victoria's Vinyard at the end of the run, they have a good lunch and you can drink the vino if so inclined, I know i will be  David, me and our better halfs will be at finish at the vinyards, so you would not see us until then, Linda Barber will starting the cars off from the Lowes about 1 minute apart from each other you'll be given a route sheet with the questions and directions of the route. Just see here if you are coming at Lowes and tell here , you are guest and I invited you to attend. We thought this would be a fun way to do things for change and somewhat of an adventure.

I just now got in from work. I'm gonna stay up and have a few beers. Its too late to be calling anyone and I really do have things I should do tomorrow. You guys have fun. I am always too late finding out about these things. I really need to sleep in for a while tomorrow cause I feel like crap not sleeping much and I would have to get up early to make easly from here. We will meet up again sometime.

Drove the wife's MGB to the Vineyard Saturday.
First LBC and stick drive since May 8th.
I was amazed how agile, tight and powerful the B felt.
It had always seemed a bit soft and sluggish before.
Of course in the past the bar was set by the Sprite
and I haven't so much as cranked the Sprite since May.
I guess compared to a big ol Benz and Land Cruiser a B
is very sporty.
:jester:

Fired up the Sprite today. No problem.
My goal is to replace the wheel studs and nuts this weekend
upcoming.
Man...I miss the Frog!

Brokeback mountain [long opus] part 1

That's the nickname I've given this fiasco. Brokeback Mountain
without the gay sex. Just a mountain and a broke back.
Broke the BE too.
Now that the back has been repaired and I'm well on my way to a full recovery it is time to fix Screamin' Mimi.
Began the task today.
What happened was the driver's side rear wheel and tire came off and passed me going down the road.
The Sprite has those wire wheel adapters so as to use spin on Minilites.(see pic) They are bolted to the hub via some little nylock nuts. All has been fine and I've run the car pretty hard.
(see Carolina Motorsports video)
Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5csbvgUDsgw
Routine 7k+ shifts etc
No problems.
I recently went from a HIF6 carb setup to twin HS4s.
(see pics)
Noticeable power increase.
On my first mountain run with the new carbs I was leading
a 933 Porsche and pushing it pretty hard. So hard in fact
the 933 was getting loose trying to keep up even though
I was staying in my lane and not drifting or getting loose.
On my way home I noticed the car was VERY quick on lane change. I stopped and checked the car over. No problem was obvious. We had all slpit on seperate ways home so I was by myself.
Going back on Devil's Fork road I had slowed to maybe 15-20 mph, as the condition had worsened, when the rear driver's side squatted and I watched in horror as the rear wheel passed me. Link to Devil's Fork : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdFdzM41r6o

I ground to a halt without a wreck. WHEW!
Luckily I was able to retrieve the wheel and tire about a 1/4 up the road.
I called my wrecker friend and when he arrived we decided
that dragging the car onto his rollback could cause damage.
I tried to lift the rear corner so as to stick the wheel back on for the winching onto the wrecker.
CRACK...Brokeback Mountain. Acute fracture of L1 vertebrae.
Ambulance etc ensued.
So far this little episode has cost about $40K + in medical bills. Hap thought my temp brace pending surgery looked like a Borg invasion. Surgery was amazing.
Link to surgery video: https://spinalfracture.com/understand/understand3.aspx?gclid=CKuPxdam8KECFUtX2god1X1TLg
Funny thing was Doc got a good laugh in the operating room when he discovered I have an extra vertebra. They thought it was a T12 but it turned out to be a L1. "Who can't count?"
"We're cutting on a lawyer and somebody screwed up the count!"
They got it right in the end.
Today I began the car repairs.
The little nylock nuts are just not sufficient for the use I make of Screamin' Mimi.
The darn things had stripped completely off the studs and stripped the studs in the process.
End of Part 1

Re: Brokeback mountain [long opus] part 1

How many times can you get lucky?
Glad to hear it turned out better than
it could have.

Re: Brokeback mountain [long opus] part 2

In these pics you can see the wheel hub with axle removed and
the spin on hub adapter.
When the wrecker guy put some new studs on they still were not what I had in mind. You'll notice one of the new studs is missing. I started the repairs today and had just removed one of the studs the guy installed.
