"Do name or not do name..?"

ok, so does everybody here have their car named? I see lots of Bugeyes with female names. I was thinkign of calling my yelloe-oraneg MGB the "Pukemobile"...

Re: "Do name or not do name..?"

I rarely name cars (or bikes). Sometimes a name just comes up and is appropriate, so it sticks. The Bugeye I sold last year was called the "Tunebug" as I paid for it with money I earned as a musician. Sold it to someone else here who is a violin builder so the name has stuck.

My MGB doesn't have a name and may never, just depends on if the right name comes up and sticks.

Re: "Do name or not do name..?"

Some people think I'm nuts, but i believe that cars will tell you their names so long as you listen to them. A number of my cars have told me their names over the years. My Studebaker's name is Annabelle, the F-150 is named Mongo, the Explorer is Andy and i even had a Porche 944 named Otto.

Out of the blue the name pops into my head and just fits perfectly with the character of the vehicle.

Re: "Do name or not do name..?"

To me, naming a car is ok for those wish to do so, but I don't name them. Their just a glob of nuts, bolts, tin and wire, designed to take you from point A to B. They stink of exhaust fumes and constantly cost you money, gas, oil, tires. A cars personality, as some wish to put it, is merely a reflection of your own. You named it, it didn't name it's self. I must conceded that I have named a few cars in my day, but I would be banned if I told you what they were. I usually named them just before they were sent on their way to the crusher.
I could see why some would give their cars female names,
They constantly cost you money!

Re: "Do name or not do name..?"

We had a British car whose original registration was "DU-####", and when I saw that, I knew the car's name was "Homer". You see, DU = D'Oh!
The new owners decided that it's name was "Alice" - Maybe because the color is Alice Blue?

Good one! Mine are called, the Red one and the Green one. Don't know what I'd do if I had two of the same color.
