"Do name or not do name..?"

Re: "Do name or not do name..?"

wow! Matilda...that's old skool!

Re: "Do name or not do name..?"

Nope, never seen the point.

Don't name my cars, parts of my body, nearby inanimate objects etc. Always considered those who do harmless but eccentric. Seems too much like the people that stuff their dead pooches and talk to them.....its just a mechanical object, people, and whatever urge you feel to personify it, I don't share that urge.

Re: "Do name or not do name..?"

Had a Mercury named Al, The GT6+ is reffered to as the "Babycar", coined by my daughter when she was 4 or 5 years old.

Re: "Do name or not do name..?"

Don't name them as a matter of course, but I have called them names I can't repeat, when working on them.

Re: "Do name or not do name..?"

1950 Ford Tudor is "Maybellene", after the Chuck Berry song.
1950 Ford Pickup is "The Ugly Truckling".
Explorer is "Exploder"
The Jag is Elizabeth.....named by previous owner, one rule, can't change the name.

Re: "Do name or not do name..?"

My dearly beloved and I pulled into the local farm stand today in her MINI (a.k.a. the MINI Skirt) to pick up some fresh veggies.

The girl behind the counter said her neighbor has one and named it Winnie Cooper.

Never named the plastic lotus cars, nothing ever came to mind. The tin one got called Tina now-and-again. Others called the Alfas "Luigi", I never gave that much thought.

Diesela got her nomer from 'smits, as omage to Germanic heritage and fuel "difference".

Re: "Do name or not do name..?"

The Impala is "Scary"
Spitfire is "Green Machine"
Fiance's Buick is "Grandma Car"

Re: "Do name or not do name..?"

I personally will never give a car/truck a name.
I DO hate it when people post, using the nickname, like
they're talking about a real person.
