Yep, no interferance at all. I checked all that out before I put it there, but they don't detract from the original looks of the car too much there and plenty of sound from them for a good balance.RickB said:Kim, is that up high enough that it doesn't bother your left leg?
Yes I made them. I made the original out of the corner of a square cat litter plastic bucket. I made it out of the bucket at first and made sure it fit and all and then I coated it with fiberglass to give it some proper stiffness. One thing i learned from working with a custom speaker guy is never ever let the speaker touch metal. True sound comes through wood best or something else. The more you stiffen and use harder wood to support that back piece for those 6x9 speakers the deeper and more beautiful the sound will be. I used a pressed board but stregthened with some pine strips cut in a triangle shape and then bowed to make it stiffer on the top and bottom of the speakers.RickB said:That's great!
The Sony's I got are Sony Refurbs - an Ebay seller had a BIN and a "Make Offer". He accepted my offer of $23.
I cut them into the piece that separates the trunk from the front, they sound great!!
My family got me the VR3 cd/sd/usb unit for my birthday.
I'm thinking of getting a pair of round 6" Sony Xplod speakers and mounting them up front like you did.
So far I've just been playing music from SD memory cards.
Did you make those boxes? If so, what materials did you use?
