Hey, I have the same speaker grills as you Rick, but they were given to me by my brother. The actual speakers are the cheapo 11 dollar ones from walmart. Still good sound and deep base. I used to work with a guy that designed custom speakers back in the day and he learnt me lots about that sort of thing, placement and all. Plus I put the front ones up out of the way, but the reflection comes out well from here.

Kim, is that up high enough that it doesn't bother your left leg?

Re: Do all of you spridget owner have a tonneau to

I'm glad this topic came up. I can't snap mine on the windshield A pillar posts. It's too tight. I'd even thought about making up some kind of fabric snap extender. I'll try the hot water technique to see if that helps.

...& they're on sale through Moss right now!!

if u wanna hear ur stereo get a 200 watt Panasonic CD with a 7 band EQ, a Kicker component set, and a couple of small subs for the back end.....i dont have much trouble hearing it, and it sounds REAL, i mean REAL, good! ; )
only spent $200 on ebay ...zimmmmmmy

Re: Do all of you spridget owner have a tonneau to

Mine sounds pretty good and I got $62 in it. Not too much trunk space taken up either. The cd changer I got from a friend in a trade a long while ago and I had to set it on some foam to keep it from skipping. I might just hook my mp3 player into the amp.

Yep, no interferance at all. I checked all that out before I put it there, but they don't detract from the original looks of the car too much there and plenty of sound from them for a good balance.

That's great!
The Sony's I got are Sony Refurbs - an Ebay seller had a BIN and a "Make Offer". He accepted my offer of $23.

I cut them into the piece that separates the trunk from the front, they sound great!!

My family got me the VR3 cd/sd/usb unit for my birthday.
I'm thinking of getting a pair of round 6" Sony Xplod speakers and mounting them up front like you did.
So far I've just been playing music from SD memory cards.

Did you make those boxes? If so, what materials did you use?

Yes I made them. I made the original out of the corner of a square cat litter plastic bucket. I made it out of the bucket at first and made sure it fit and all and then I coated it with fiberglass to give it some proper stiffness. One thing i learned from working with a custom speaker guy is never ever let the speaker touch metal. True sound comes through wood best or something else. The more you stiffen and use harder wood to support that back piece for those 6x9 speakers the deeper and more beautiful the sound will be. I used a pressed board but stregthened with some pine strips cut in a triangle shape and then bowed to make it stiffer on the top and bottom of the speakers.

Careful Zimmy, you're on dangerous ground... I think there might be a few guys on here who don't have any hair left to blow around! :p

Re: Do all of you spridget owner have a tonneau to

Tonneau. Shorty. Just picked up a new top for some shade for this summers 'Road Trip'

Re: Do all of you spridget owner have a tonneau to

There are two tonneaus available Kim, One snaps across the back of the cockpit (short & earlier) and the other extends back to and uses the 2 chrome hood hold-downs and hood Tenexs, hence long! Some don't like the long one because it lays on and across the paint behind the seats and others don't like the short because of the extra fasteners just behind the seats!

Re: Do all of you spridget owner have a tonneau to

I had one that came with the car when I bought it. I would like another, but I have the rollbar in so I don't know. I had cut out the area for the roll bar, but it didn't look professional at all. I had problems with the one I had, getting it over the steering wheel and snapped up front. The zipper broke on it last summer and I didn't get another. I liked the look of it.
