Diesel Triumph

Has anyone thrown a diesel motor in their Triumph?

I'm sure it's been done in the UK.

If you could make a VW TDI work it would be a hoot to drive. Which it would need to be to allow you to escape the things some folks would throw at you for doing it...

I've seen a video of an electric powered Spitfire and recently, I saw photos and a story about a TR6 converted to battery power.

I think that the engine in my Nissan van, would fit in the Herald quite nicely. 2.3L 4 cyl diesel. Would probably be quite efficient and with 80hp and huge torque, a blast to drive There is even a turbo version.

To bad the regs around here don't allow privately owned diesel before '95.

on a similiar note...there was an article in Practical Classics where a gent put a sherpa diesel in a MGB GT
