TR2/3/3A Detailed TR3a interior photos

I'll be driving the Fire Engine at a home coming parade Friday night and the Centreville Day Parade Saturday morning. After that I should be around. Send a PM for directions and phone number.

A shot I have handy -- not a complete view but shows most of the parts w/ piping. This is not original but hopefully 'as original'. It is the Moss kit.

Since I sewed them myself.....................

Nice dining room chair covers! Wonder if my wife will okay that?

As for the white piping across the seat bottom... I have seen photos (possibly factory, certainly period) both ways (black & white) -- was this just a variation or was there a change point or is one 'more correct'?

Here's a few of my ongoing struggle. The kit is entirely from Moss. I can't say I'm terribly excited abou it. The wrinkles were all sewn in, so they won't stretch out. It's OK, just I've done better sewing my own in the past...

Also, as you can tell, the panels are all "overstuffed". I saved all the old parts in case I get the time to re-cover the originals one day.

No, the tracks are new from Moss, and appear to be cad plated. I bought them before I saw how well your's turned out, or I think I would have kept the originals!

Have you started on your interior?

John

Not started yet but talking with a local guy who does interior work, I have seen some of his work and wanted to get an idea of his pricing......yours is coming along nicely....I think a couple of hot days sitting in the sun will take care of your wrinkles...

Well, I'd say a few will come out, but most are puckers that I'll just have to learn to like. Luckily, it'll be my wife's car, and she's not nearly as picky as I am. I really think a good upholsterer would have done a much better job...I'll be curious to hear what you get quoted. In hind sight, it would be worth waiting on an upholsterer if the price isn't too much more.

Oh, that reminds me, you asked about the tack strips. I tried the black plastic tack strips on the seat buckets, but it turned out they are too flexible. I used the 1/4" Luan ply under the passenger seat...just like the ply that was originally there. (it shows when you pull the seats out) For the strips that had to bend a lot inside the buckets, I used four 1/16" ply strips that I laminated to also be 1/4" total thickness. I used slow wood glue and bent the strips to shape as I riveted them in place. The end result works perfectly, although not exactly like the original. Those strips don't show at all once the covers are installed...

I assume you plan to take the pics to show what you want. I'll post a few of my original seats...and also some that came off the web to help guide me. I apologize if the red seats belong to one of you guys on the forum. But if they do...thanks...It's a beautiful car and helped me a lot as I go!

I added a loop of nylon strapping to the front edge of my seat bottoms to make it easier to lift them out of the pans. Handy for quick removal for getting large items into the footwell area.

Hi There JP,

You should look at "2 Tall Custom Interiors" for what you need. He`s good, friendly and owns a TR3A. I bought my entire Interior Kit from him awhile back & could`nt be happier. I have a personal friend locally who I asked if he would make my Interior from scratch & He suggested buying a Kit & He would install it cause It would cost an obnoxious amount of $$$ to build from scratch.

It`ll be int to see what your friend has to say relative to the cost.

Best Wishes,

Russ

JP,

I think we talked last year at the 2010 BOG. I have the Old English White TR3 with the caramel color interior. Eric Sejd of Craftsman Upholstery did mine from scratch. I got to pick the exact colors and material I wanted. Much better than a kit and no wrinkles. I can recommend his business without any reservation. He was originally in Fairfax but has moved closer to you in Manassas.

All the best,
