Dear Keenan,

I must say that my 4Runner has a very nice ride. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Probably get's a little better mileage than the caddy though.

SUV's - the scourge of modern mankind!

And great for hauling the family on camping trips with real camping gear, and towing the boat, and parts hauling, and.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

If the people who drove them only understood the rules of the road....the left lane of a divided 4-lane highway is used for passing, overtaking, or turning within 100 feet.....its not the private domain of SUV's!

Ok, then I'd just change the statement to: Overly rich drivers who think everything belongs to them.
because I see alot of BMW's, Mercedes', and Expensive newer SUV's and luxury cars all together in that left lane... cutting people off and just generally not paying attention to anyone else on the road. Not all SUV owners are bad drivers. And we barely use ours unless the whole family has to go somewhere (when it was running).

Okay, I'll go with that.

I'm Stickin' with "Scurrilous Unnecessary Vehicles".

You aren't the 'rule' here Kenny, rather the 'exception.'

...and I want my forward mounted cannon back, for the left lane abusers.

UH, I beg to differ as well, with the constant "Crapping" on SUV drivers.
I travel the 400 series highways up here on a daily basis. The worst drivers, ie: the last two days, freezing rain, snow, sleet are the folks in Hondas, Acuras, BMW's, Mercedes, and far fewer SUV's going 120 kph when any touch of the brake will send you spinning.
Some think that if you have a four wheel drive vehicle you have more control on ice and snow, but it is not the Norm. up here.
Perhaps things are different down there? I don't know, but the constant SUV driver bashing should stop.

Paul

Paul - were they in the left lane?

Well I'm just catching up here-Janel /we have 3 and 0ne half-eh Tony - MGBGT's /engines and parts everywhere......... my son is talking daily driver & racing (!) and I keep saying build one and drive it!!!!!!!!! I am not a good example (I CONFESS) so perhaps the rest of you could reiterate Janel & my humble opinions. He has all it will take to build one to see if the fit is right!! I'm so proud of the endevor-but one step at a time!! It is not an inexpensive addiction that I, his mother , has inflicted upon him!!! See Keenan it is a rite of passage & Zack is alittle side tracked, too.

I think SUVs are thinging out on the roads that I drive daily. I'm normally completely surrounded by them, but the other day on my way to work there was maybe 4...

Not all SUV drivers are bad, I've had fewer SUVs try to run me over than I've had Honda Civics try to run me over. SUVs certianly have their uses, but I don't think I could bring myself to purchase one... 'cept ... maybe a Durango, as that's the only one that I've found to have attractive styling.

'k... and the alluded-to cannon comment wasn't 'aimed' exclusively at SUV drivers. Rather the left-lane self-righteous on limited access highways, regardless of conveyance.

*sheesh*

SORRY! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

We have "The Bus" ('94 Suburban). After driving it around
empty a few times,I have to check the odometer.Every 10 miles (or less),another gallon of gas!
This is the only vehicle I've ever owned where I think about the fuel I'm burning, while sitting at a traffic light.
Luckily it uses regular - ONLY 279.9/Gallon.
I also weghed it the other day. With 2 of us (about 330Lbs.),
& 2 car batteries in the back,it showed a weight of 7020 LBS!

GOR!!! Over 3.5 TONS! No wonder you watch the guage.

Jeez! the GVWR of my toyota is only 5400 lbs and that's supposed to be fully loaded with trailer etc, maximum weight allowed for my truck - right?

Randi - Zack's not side tracked - he's getting ready to support his hobby!

Geez I hope so......I created my own worst nightmare!!!One is never enough........I'm living proof we REAP WHAT WE SOW arggggh as Charlie Brown would say

I SAID IT!! & I'll say it again...the majority of vehicles I see in the left lane for no reason are SUV's - driven by women! I even rolled my window down at a red light one day & asked the 'lady' driver if she understood what the left lane was for....she told me her drivers education instructor in high school had told her to pick a lane & stay in it - she picked the left one! Its amazing that the right (read: slow) lane is usually the fastest lane....& I'll stand by my comment...there are lots of idiots driving in the left lane but the majoirty of the ones I see are driving SUV's.

No bash intended - just the facts.

OK, now what the heck does Keenan have to do with this? He drives a van and a BMW, NOT an SUV !!
