I have had an ongoing problem with a 24 year old Delta shower valve. I decided to call support at Delta expecting the worst. Within a minute I was talking to a human. This service rep was pleasent from the start. It turns out the valve I have was only made for a short time and is discontinued. I didn't have a part number to begin with but through a series of questions she was able to determine what I had.
When she couldn't figure out the part I was talking about she asked if I would mind holding while she looked further. Within 3 minutes she was back with enough info to give me a part number for the defective part and ask if I would like her to email me a diagram.
This was a welcome change from all the horror stories about customer service and talking to computors. Maybe there is hope for big business if they employ people like Alyssa and allow them to do their jobs.
Thanks for listening, Ernie

Glad to hear of your good experience, Ernie.

Perhaps if we publicized more about positive encounters with one another rather than harping on the negative, we might just turn things around...

Jes' sayin'

OK, I have one here.I was replacing the alternator on an XJ6C. I removed the grease encrusted one from the car, and removed the fan and pully to put on the reman Lucas unit. To my suprise, it was not compatible. I cleaned the old one off to discover it was a french unit of some sort...

At about 7:00 PM on a thursday evening I emailed David Boger of "Everyday XJ" in N.C., and asked if he could pull me a Lucas unit, and ship it overnight for Saturday delivery. Within minutes he called me back and told me he would remove one and deliver it to the UPS hub,and we would have it Friday.

He removed one, and it was a motorola unit, and then removed another, boxed it and had it at the airport a few minutes before the doors closed on the plane. UPS charged us 100.00 for the overnight shipping, and for providing such immediate and exemplary service, charged me a whopping 30 bucks. I sent him extra.

I had a similar experience with Delta about 10 years ago. I fully expected to have to pay for a new cartrige but they mailed me one immediately (for free). Great support.

Ernie- Kudos to you for even trying.
I probably just would have replaced it with a newer nicer unit.
Good job!!

Ditto on Delta. I bought a faucet set 4 yrs. ago at a non-profit supply store. 2 parts were missing; called Delta & explained circumstance and they sent parts free. Good company to deal with IMHO!

Delta replaced all of the plumbing fixtures in my house when they discolored, no questions asked. They were shipped ot me, no charge. I just had to install them which was easy.
