Curious glowing on my Tail lamps

I think it was telling you what its name was.

Jack,

Too funny... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

Although, with the glow on the REAR taillights then Rudolph would be flying backwards.. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

I know we could take this to a place we shouldn't sooooo, 'nuff said.. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Santa may have fortified Rudolphs oats and barley with a healthy doese of Habanero Peppers for a few days before hand.

Gentlemen,

To close this out...

The glow on my taillights is from a faulty, partially shorted original brake light switch... As I was working away at finding the fault I noted a little smoke rising from the switch.... It is permanently and partially in the ON position.....

While I was at it, I fixed the turn signals, and a bunch of other stuff. While working on the wiring harness under the dash a few weeks ago I had inadvertently disconnected the power line from the gas gauge that feeds into the signal relay!?!? Now works perfectly...

As my ditty had said

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:]Ah, the smell of ozone while the wires glow
the electrons a shortcut they did go

you can sit and ponder the reasons why
as the harness so costly it did fry

The smoke in the air it did rise
'tis Lucas electric, no surprize [/QUOTE]

Although in all fairness to LUCAS, this was not a problem particular to LUCAS' electrics...

NOW WHILE I AM AT IT... Does anyone know if there is a pressure brake switch for any other car that will fit where the original one is installed in the A???

Ron - NAPA carries the Echlin pressure brake light switched (P/N SL 147), but be aware that they won't last any better than the ones you can get from MM or VB - you'll be lucky if they last a year. An alternative is a switch sold by the Ron Francis Wiring Company https://www.ronfrancis.com/showpage.php?page=main.htm the P/N is SW-32. It is supposed to be a heavy duty switch that has a reasonable life span. If you get the replacement switch from MM, VB, or NAPA, you need to make up a relay/arc suppression circuit to make the switch last beyond a year. For information about making the circuit or how to order one ready to install, see my article at: https://www.omgtr.ca/technical/brakelightrelay/brakelightrelay.htm
Cheers,

David,
Thanks for the advice...

I will likely, for the sake of convenience, order a replacement from Moss.... I will review the suggested website..
