Crips!

The last sentence is what really bothers me:

"Campus and district counselors have talked with the students who were in the class and will be available in the future if those students need to talk."

And what? Have the students tell them what there doing wrong? "You can do that?" It's a crying shame that a teacher can't leave their room for a few minutes without having to break up "this". /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif

No, the counselors are there in case any of the students are emotionally scarred because of witnessing the act or hearing people talk about it! You know, the subliminal message, "don't worry, your government is here to take care of all your needs, emotional or whatever."

Maybe it was sex education class?

Obviously this school doesn't have a darkroom with a lock on the door so they could be alone "developing film for the yearbook"....

/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

not that I know anyone who might have ever done anything like that in Jr High....

/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

but on the other hand... now that I have kids and I've adopted the hypocritical oath of "do as I say, not as I did"....

Holy Crykies.... WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE ????

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:]
"I think there should be more supervision. If that's the case and they have enough time to do such things, obviously there's not people there to supervise them," Crockett parent Gerry Banez said. "That's real disheartening."
[/QUOTE]

is no one responsible for their own actions anymore? What kind of half-wit parenting went on to bring up kids who would do this right in the middle of class? THAT is what is "real disheartening"....

ratzenfratzen mouth-breathing wimpy morons.... grow a set and admit for once that someone did a lousy job bringing up these kids. Don't blame it on the administration!

ugh...

I don't doubt anything....remember I teach 8th grade. I could revel you with stories of these kids escapades today, but this is a family forum. Leave it to say, we have pulled kids out of every concievable nook and cranny of our building and it is a full time job keeping ahead of these kids. As a parent, its a full time job staying ahead of T.V. and the internet. No more hidden playboys under the mattress for this generation. Unfortunately, many parents do not have the computer skills to monitor a tech saavy teenager who knows how to erase the history or set up blockers to keep adult content out of their bedrooms. They have been innundated with images of sex since birth..in every movie, commercial and even cartoons..where we were curious, they are experimenting...where does it go from here?

Crips! I got my bare butt spanked for throwing spitwads!
BTW Basil, we can't spank them anymore (teachers or parents) I swatted my son in the grocery store when he was 3 because I told him to leave the candy alone and he turned around an picked it up anyway..swift justice and a firm hand to his backside....I was met by the manager outside who was concerned about my "abusive" behavior. Whatever! I told him to call the police or butt out. My sons were not going to do something I told them not to! No means No in momma's house!
(BTW he's now 19, graduated with a 4.3 and a full ride to the U of A could there be a correlation there?)

Terri,

Good job!I work in a very liberal city.
It wouldn't surprise me to hear something like -
- "Summer Autumn,Summer Autumn,put that candy back,
or you'll have bad kahrma for the rest of the day!"

A related tale: Horsemits was arriving at a grocery store as a young couple were disembarking from their Q-ship SUV. "Dad" had just pulled "Junior" from his car seat and fitted him with a harness and leash... 'smits thought it a good thing for an ambulatory 2-year old, but couldn't resist as they crossed paths... she enquired: "Does your child bite?"

"Mom" was visibly upset and replied: "I HATE that thing, HE (pointing at Dad) thinks it's important!"

Herself said: "He's right."

Mom went off in a huff. 'smits snicker'd.

Spare the rod and spoil the child! I never truly understood that phrase. When they took the yard stick out of the teachers hand and they screamed that the teacher was being verbally abusive to "MY child", everything started it's downhill slide. Teachers get no respect and when that happens, the educational process will fail. Gee, I wonder why our school system is on the bottom of the list in the world for educational ratings? Not much to be proud of is it?

A complete lack of respect, for themselves if nothing else...

Lack of respect...period. Unfortunately, too much of that going around these days for lots of reasons I won't delve into.

When I was in Junior High, my dad was the Principal. I can remember friends telling me at wrestling practice that they had been called into my dad's office for discipline. More than one said that the forehand slap across the face was not as bad as they expected, but they were shocked by the velocity and impact of the backhand that followed.
One of them came to my home recently when I called his plumbing company for some work to be done. He said that he always tells people who complain about education that he was given every chance to make good and learn, and he was too immature to pay attention. He now respects all that was provided for him, and his proudest accomplishment is that his daughter received two free semesters at a local state university in the graduate level because of her academics.
This makes me even prouder than ever of my dad, and makes me miss him more. But we had to get him to retire before he went to prison for enforcing the rules.
Thanks Dad!

Yikes, that was 5 miles from our old house, and MAY have been where my girls would have been gone if we had stayed.

It was (and I believe still is) an exemplar rated school district, but we were starting seeing problems in that area just before we left. I hate painting with a broad brush but it seemed to started at the same time Houston was getting the problems with the Katrina evacuees.
