I bought an adapter from a local tool depot, I think it was $10-15. Converted 1/2 to 1 inch or 3/4 can't remember, I sourced this in a smaller town so I don't think it is too hard to come by.

You might be able to find a 6 sided socket at a specialty tool place, which is what I referred to.

Got mine years ago, in 3/4" drive (along with a breaker bar, which you're better off using rather than adapting to 1/2" drive), at Sears!

This thread would make a better Sear's commercial than most of the ones they air.
(Except for the one-hour Sear's commercial called "Extreme Makeover - Home Edition".)
Maybe we could get a TV show called "Extreme Makeover - LBC Edition"...it could air 2-3 hours a day during the week, all day Saturday and Sunday, and run for about what...5-10 years?

As for keeping the crankshaft from turning, I can only speak from Spitfire experience. What I've always done is to put my socket on my 3/4" breaker bar, put the whole thing on the pulley nut...and then hit the starter button. Sure, it sounds painful and damaging, but you can always put a wood block where the bar will otherwise hit the chassis. I've yet to hurt anything, and I've yet to fail to break the nut loose with this admittedly barbaric method!
