TR2/3/3A Condenser Quality?

Has anyone tried the Distributor Doctor condensers? They are supposed to be a better quality condenser than what is normally available. Anyone have any good "My car died at the side of the road...bad condenser stories."?

While we are looking at the picture....if that "black wire" that is grounded to the plate is frayed and needs replacing how difficult is it to replace? Dosnt look like a regular hold down screw there?

With a properly flexible ground wire such as this you can use the condenser screw for the connection to the points plate

I believe I got the wire from Advanced Distributors...It has to have that flexibility.

Distributor Doctor is THE go to man for ignition parts etc. He came up with the red rotor arm without the short out rivet
He runs a TR too
He will also build your distributor to your engine spec if you have upgraded it.

but with my engine rebuild they went for a competition external condenser

I've never used this particular unit, but I do use a similar polypropylene capacitor in my TR4A.
