Coil Wiring

Just took posession of a 61 BT7 tri-carb which I've taken for a couple of quick spins and everything seems fine. Opened up the hood to do some cleaning and noticed that there is a loose wire with a connector at the coil. There are two wires already attached to the coil (plus the main wire to the distributor). Any idea what this is and if I should do anything?

Thanks,

Originally there would be two white-black wires on the distributor side of the coil. One wire to the distributor, one wire to the battery cutoff switch in the boot, which also grounds the points when the switch is "off".

I would find out where the "other" wire goes.

The other side of the coil would have two white wires. One wire to the ignition switch, one wire to the nonfused side (source side) of the 35 amp fuse.
