TR2/3/3A Clutch Question

Hello!

A bit of background, I purchased a 1960 Triumph TR3 as a project for myself to work on. The car is not currently drivable and I am going through everything to get it there.

I removed the clutch slave cylinder to rebuild it, when I found that the clutch shaft could be easily moved by hand. Is this a sign of a problem with the clutch? I uploaded a short video to YouTube, https://youtu.be/-EGtdIIU55I. I was expecting more resistance from the clutch, i.e. not able to move by hand.

Right now I'm planning to pull the gearbox to inspect the clutch, but I thought I would post here first to check that I'm not missing something.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't expect there to be that much free movement of the bearing. I'm glad this isn't an issue.

I agree, perfectly normal. If you had been able to move the lever to the rear of vertical, then you might have a problem. But what you show is fine.

PS, looks like you've got a lot of work ahead. Good Luck!

Welcome Tom, as you have just found out there are good people here with loads of experience to share.

Don't be shy and please do keep is posted on your progress.
