Clutch Master cylinder, rebuild or not.

Not saying there's anything wrong with that ... but generally they won't tell you what all is in denatured alcohol so what you bought may not be the same as what I bought. Last can I read listed everything from aviation gasoline to Xylene (paint thinner) as "possible" denaturing agents.

Do I need to bench bleed the clutch master,or can that even be done?

Can be done, but I don't bother. I just dump a little DOT 5 in the bore before assembling the piston into it then mount it on the car.

On the rare occasions I couldn't pump up pressure, I just bled at the MC outlet, by loosening the nut & holding a rag under it while pushing the rod in by hand. But usually it's not necessary.

The denaturing agent SHOULD be Methyl Alcohol. Don't drink it -- you'll go blind!

Nope, not just methyl alcohol. Too easy to separate, plus tastes too much like ethanol. Here's an entertaining note on the subject. Note the date.

Try Googling for "MSDS denatured alcohol" (without the quotes). The first 4 I found all listed different ingredients.

Besides, if methyl alcohol is safe for brake seals (as I believe it is), just buy methyl alcohol.

Dang! 125 years behind the times again! Probably won't be the last time either.

I've still (pun intended) never had a premature hydraulic failure that I would attribute to use of denatured alcohol as a brake parts cleaning solvent.

Watch the ethyl ,not real good for the Liver. Will absorb right through your skin.
