Anyone know who sells this type of mirror? Apparently they clip on to the windscreen stanchion but not the ones that use the existing stanchion bolt.

I think the one you want can be had at any hot rod shop.
They clip on to the front of the front of the door frame or the A pillar.

I picked up a similar one for our car some years ago a Triumphest San Diego.
I really like it. So much better than the uselessness fender mirrors I had years ago.
I have been told a very similar mirror is sold in England for Mini’s.
I have been asked a hundred times where folk can get one.
Wish I had more info

Like the one in the Amazon link above, several accessories (like wind deflectors) clamp onto the windscreen tenon with set screws. They permanently mar the tenon.

I have a similar one got from a UK supplier. Worked fine but was a problem f I wanted to use the side curtains. So I made a bracket that attaches to the rear station bolt,.

How do you remove the stanchion bolt if it's rusted in place. Can it be accessed from inside? Did you have to modify the "wind wing" or is the mirror low enough so it is not in the way?

I had no trouble removing the stanchion bolt as it had only been in there for a couple of years since my rebuild. I do not remember if it is a captive nut or a threaded plate. You may be able to spray some PB Blaster up through the hole you access the top wing bolt.
The mirror is far enough out that it does not interfere with the wind wing. It is nice because I can adjust the mirror as I drive. Looking at the photo it may be my version 1. Version 2 is a bit longer and angles up a bit more.

I bought one at the Carlisle car show. It has two grub screws and a thin steel plate that goes between the grub screws and the stanchion to keep the screws from making marks but no matter how tight you screw the grub screws the mirror will still move and potentially fall off. I used double sided tape behind the little metal plate and the mirror arm and that keeps it from moving. The only down side is it can’t be used with side screens. I keep an Allen key in my door pocket to remove the mirror if needed. Easy to remove and reinstall. Works and looks great. also no need to remove the stanchion plate and no problem using with side screens.
