Clicking sounds

Re: Clicking sounds - SOLVED

Nothing beyond the obvious. Try to catch it (so it doesn't hit the floor and possibly bend the roller cage); and now would be a good time to repack. Inspect for any damage or signs of wear; IMO even a 'matte' appearance on the rollers or race is reason enough to replace both of them.

If the felt seal falls off, you'll probably want to replace it. In that case, I suggest setting the bearing clearance and marking the nut position before installing the seal. The new seals are frequently thick enough to make it difficult to check the clearance once they are installed (but will compress in service).

Re: Clicking sounds - SOLVED

Ok, thanks Randall, I ordered some new seals with the rotors just in case.

Re: Clicking sounds - SOLVED

Hub removal will require both brgs. to come off or there is no way to replace the inner brg. oil seal.

Re: Clicking sounds - SOLVED

Right; but usually the inner bearing stays trapped in the hub by the seal. If it does, and the bearing has been repacked relatively recently, then there is usually no need to disturb it. The inner bearings lead a far easier life than the outers do anyway, IMO.
