69tr - you can adopt me, but i warn you, i eat a ton of food and might bring home different young women quite frequently...triumph wagons ARE chick magnets...right?

But yes indeed. The car is being built for my dad...he gave it to me and was then diagnosed with cancer (terminal). I'm busting my butt (and wallet!) to finish this thing so he can see it. Too bad my fabricator has put this on the backburner temporarily.

Waltesefalcon - I have a feeling that i'll probably find any reason to go to the grocery store...and then find myself detoured through some local mountain twisties. These things happen...

2wrench - I'll only lose my license if i get caught, right? Hah...i'd like to see my car in a chase on the news, and listen to the newscaster attempt to describe the wagon.

Why in the heck didn't Triumph think of that???
I love it, I just don't like the Jaguar conversions! This is a one-off specialty all the way, great work. Maybe someday I'll get over the aversion I have to Jag mods, but I seriously doubt it. :nonono:

On second thought, I had an '88 Vette, and I could see the benefits of the softer ride and that kick that the XJ6 doesn't seem to have when comparing the two, where do I send the car??? How much?? How soon??? :cheers:

The wheelbase is 84" correct, and i think the original track width was around 48" or so if i'm not mistaken. It should be right around 60" when all is said and done on mine.

I'm really hoping we can keep this thing under the 2,000 pound mark...I'm looking into lexan windows, carbon fiber or fiberglass hood,fenders, and rear hatch.

You could do that..How about two 948 motors and then a giant single turbo setup?

And re: jag swaps..I'm not really a fan of the v8 swaps, but i've always thought it would be ridiculously cool to swap in a 2jz-gte (toyota supra turbo) or an rb26dett (nissan skyline engine) into one...

With all the Chevy V-8-into-Jaguar swaps over the years, I got a big kick out of one eBay auction I saw over the summer...a 1951 Chevy custom, with a Jag engine! :smile:
 
Don't know it you plan to do any drag racing but if you do you need to have a minimum 90" wheelbase, with the non-stock engine.
That much power and under 2000 lbs is going to be a blast, good luck with the project, you must be a very nice son.

Where did you get the extra two inches (plus?) on your TR6? If you covered that on your initial posts I don't recall it.
