"Che Bella Triumph!"

Did anybody else see the 'Tech Tidbits' article in last months Road&Track? One of the 1934 Triumph Dolomite's was discussed as was its receiving the Road&Track trophy at "The Quail" Motorsports gathering. Here is a link to TechTidbits

It is one of three with only two still in existence. Interesting story about the one no longer with us. It involves a Danish train and a physical 'altercation' in 1935 while being driven to the Monte Carlo Rallye. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

These are the Dolomite's developed by Donald Healey (yes that Donald Healey) and are practically clones of Alfa's 8C 2300. Especially the supercharged straight eight engine which is a beautiful piece of automotive artwork as well as a potent example of late twenties/early thirties Italian engineering capabilities.

By far my favorite prewar Triumph. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

Here is a link to a photo... right next to a really nice French car. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif Dolomite photos /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

DROOOOOOOLLLL! Love how the leather bonnett straps thread through the sides of the bonnett, so as not to break the flow of the chrome stripe.......
NICE car.
sorta like this Alfa .
Sorry, it's kinda hidden behind the Bugatti. It's the only pic of the Alfa I have uploaded right now

The Dolomite is a wonder... and a british knockoff of the Alfa Banjo mentions. Hence, I'm driving one in the current virtual rally. Great car! Awsome pics!

Yup, that would be the Alfa 8C 2300 that I mentioned in my original post. Copied with permission from Alfa from what I have read in other Triumph History Tomes. Also why Dennis Simantis (or an R&T editor) titled the article "Che Bella Triumph"

You should see the engine. Pure Artwrok

The chap that owns the one in Texas (Which is probably why he made it to VTR this year) also owns an 8C 2300. I wonder if he ever gets them confused? "here is the Alfa, I mean Triumph, no, its the Alfa..." /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Great site Swift6... I've been on it for hours now... still on it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Lots of good stuff.

Gee, Paul that is a great piece of film! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thankyousign.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

Nice car, but too many artsy shots and not enough of the actual car! I'm all for artsy since that's my profession, but I walked away from that video feeling like I didn't really know the car at all.

Aside from my critiques on the cinematography... amazing car!

Artsy, schmartzy...it's one-of-a-kind, the guy is entitled to get a little pretentious, at least he shows and runs it!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

I'm with Steve... 's all I'm gonna say.
