Hmmm, been busy, haven't been on, have ya missed me? Ya ya, I know, like you miss a toothache, right?

Anyway. Binabox is still sitting. Machine shop has the head, crank and block. Chuck went by there today, blah blah blah (because I'm tired and forgot exactly what he said) and the guy is going to start building the head. Guy was surprised the head was good, considering the age of the car and the fact we know no history on the car prior to Tony acquiring it. As far as painting, John still has 2 cars ahead of me, he's shooting for mid-March. I'm shooting him if it's any later than April 1. I see no conceivable way this car will be road-ready by MG2006. Radiator and gas tank are still at the shop too. I'm contemplating taking the car myself to the guy John has sandblast it (or whatever) and get that done and out of the way so it's ready when John is and we don't have 'down time' waiting on that job. And I haven't decided on color, interior or polished one bloody piece of chrome.

Emma. Gotta love Moss. Everything came yesterday (brake lines, etc.) except the exhaust system. Today the exhaust came - minus the center pipe. Wonderful. Did get a good start on putting that part of her back together. Tuesday we're dollying (is that a word?) Emma over to John's shop to install the SUs (Chuck wants to work on it there) It's been 20 days since I've driven her.

I'm frustrated as h*ll here.

Polar Bear Run is February 12th. Endurance rally (which I'll do alone if I can't get someone to go with me) is April 1st and 2nd (depending if you do the 24 hour or 12 hour rally). If I don't have a car running by then, I am going to probably end up in jail.

Don't forget Janel.. even though my Triumph is in storage, it wouldn't take long to saddle it up and drive down so you have a LBC. Or if Walter is closer, I am sure he could set you up.

Nah, we didn't miss you, Janel - we rested for a few hours! hehehehe

I'm almost ready to put Binabox's box in the mail...you should have your new hooters soon!

Oh my goodness, new hooters.

Just how does that work?

Thanks Josh. Just sandblasted it and painted. No jetcoat on this one. Maybe Binabox's though!

where's the heat shield though?

Laying in a box with the carbs. Don't ask me why.

very well... still can't wait to hear your thoughts on how it runs after the change over though. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I just want the d*mned thing running, I could care less (at this point in time) HOW she runs!

Here's something to occupy a few minutes of your time, and let you play in the tool box: take off that water spout on the back of the head, make and install a blanking plate the same dimensions as the base (cutting a gasket to fit). You won't be needing it anymore...

Blanking plate? Out of what material? Do I get to sawsall and/or weld!?!?!!

I'm great at making gaskets now. I may go into the gasket business, since this project is turning me into a gasket case!

"this project is turning me into a gasket case!"

Sigh.

Just take the old spout with you to Lowes or Home Depot & get a piece of aluminum stock as close as possible to the same thickness. That way, you can reuse the original bolts. Or you may have some scrap laying around the garage you could use. Just trace the outline of the base on the aluminum and cut it to size - and drill the holes for the bolt. I suppose you could use the sawsall or even a plasma cutter instead of a Dremel, but that seems like a little overkill to me /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

You just said the magic woyid. Sawz-all
heheheheheh J.B.s all for that.

I GET TO SAWSALL!?

WOOHOO!

IIRC the plate needs to be a small diamond shaped... good luck making something that small with a sawsall.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

the POs of my car just capped the water tube with a rubber beenie.

Rob - the white B in your signature...its been repainted at least once, right?

yup... it use to be that baby pooh yellow color (i guess the proper name of the color was Citron)... the one with a slight green tint to it... if you look on the higher resolution image you can see the original color inside the wheel wells. Also, the original color is clearly visible in some of the engine bay pics I've posted in the past.

I reckon if I ever get to the point where all she needs is a repaint, I might go back to the stock color. Most people may be an ugly color, but what the heck, I'm a glutton for uncommonality.
