Got my 64 BJ8 back from the body shop. I was told that because it was bead blasted, that I should remove the carburetors and make sure no dust got in there. If any did, that running the car will not be good. So a friend, who knows engines offered to come over and remove it and take a look around.

Prior to having the car bead blasted, I did remove the air cleaners and put duct tape over the openings. One can never be to sure where that dust gets into. It got into my fuel gauge, which I had to send out and repair. So, I don't want to take any chances.

Anything I should know or should tell him about this project.

What oil should I use in the carburetors? Moss lists Dashpot Oil. Anything I can use/get locally?

Any other fluids or anything else I'll need when putting them back on the car?

Any other areas I should be concerned about?

20 weight works just fine.

Got the PATIENCE thing down. Had a good teacher. Finally after 19 months, I got my car back from the body shop. Thank you very much.

Now I must remember to get some sleep. I'm putting the car back together. Working on it every night after work and full weekends. I'm just so happy to have it back. And grateful to have all the help and support of everyone here.

Ro;ger, there are some ratchet type stubby wrenches that will make the removal of the four nuts of the air cleaners easier. Also you may want to stuff a rag into the opening of the frame below the front carb. I've found many parts in there form the PO when I dropped a nut and washer in there.
 
Right on TH. Thanks for those tips. I too have found many washers, nuts, lock nuts, bolts, screws all over the place when I got the car back from the body shop. Yet to find any loose change. Cheers, roger
