I am trying to get this tr3 to pop off quicker and not carbon /soot up the plugs. The compression is good and it has a store bought rebuilt distributor I got years ago. The usually suspects for this problem are rich adjustment on the carbs and weak spark, but I got them leaned out and tried another coil, but no joy. It was an old one also, so maybe they are both bad. I am starting to think it is the distributor and thinking about buying one of those new ones that BPNW is offering for 130.00 because I fixed a problem like this years ago by buying a NEW Lucus distributor. I guess I am asking how can a new distributor solve the soot problem, by moving the timing superiorly and burning the fuel better.
